The City of Bay Minette, with its 8,500 plus residents, is served by a full-time Police Department with 22 certified Police Officers, four part-time code enforcement officers and eight members of the Police Auxiliary. The Police Department of the City of Bay Minette adheres to the belief that its fundamental duty is to serve the community, to protect those who are in need and to vigorously pursue those who commit crimes. The Police Officers of the City of Bay Minette carry out their sworn duties with Integrity, Pride, Courage and a Love for their community.

BMPD Citizen’s Police Academy:
March 5 - April 4; Registration February 1 – 21
A Program of...

This program is a 40-hour Citizen’s Police Academy designed to provide interested persons with an overview of law enforcement and other agency services within the city of Bay Minette. Participants are required to complete classroom instruction and field training, which includes riding at least one full shift with a certified Police Officer. Instruction will require participation on at least one Saturday to complete Firearms Safety Training at an approved Police Firearms Range.
Participants will be provided with a uniform polo shirt, ball cap and other required training aids.
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue for 8 weeks. The first class will begin on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in the Bay Minette Police Department Training Room. Applications may be obtained at the Bay Minette Police Department, 300 North Hoyle Avenue or at City Hall, located at 301 D’Olive Street. Applications will be accepted February 2nd through February 20, 2009.
